News

We have had a great summer with getting press coverage we need for our "Million Door Knock"TM.  The Daily Breeze Newspaper in the South Bay ran an article about the fund raising program.  This led to the local CNN Headline News outlet calling us about our non-profit.  This was a fantastic opportunity which presented itself!  Harmonie Tangonan, a producer from CNN Time/Warner set a date with us to film our story of what we do, why we do it, and how the Million Door KnockTM is helping us raise money.  We were very happy to change our schedules and be part of the piece that will be aired on CNN Headline News on August 29th, 30th, and 31st.  It is a huge chance to bring people to the international table of domestic violence.  Women all over the world are victims of domestic violence and abuse.  Many of these women live in rural village and countries without the resources and sometimes without the will to prevent or help the victims.  Many countries don't even have laws on the books that make violence against women illegal.  With this media exposure we hope to join with others in the international community to heighten the awareness of violence against women. We are working  to build safe houses, give the women the psychological services needed, and offer the victims of domestic violence a new chance at life.

Other news this month is that the tickets went on sale for our second annual Hot Jazz Concert at the Madrid Theatre in Canoga Park. The concert is on Saturday September 20th at 7:30 pm.  We hope to raise money to keep moving forward with plans to get our first safe house built in the next 12 months.  This year we have the fantastic jazz artist, Lori Andrews and her electric harp and The Lori Andrews Jazharp Quartet rockin' the night away!  The evening will be one of great fun and music.

To purchase tickets, please call the box office of the Madrid Theatre at (818) 347-9938 or through the website www.tix.com.  Tickets at reduced of $25 and $15 for seniors 65+ and students. This year we are forgoing the Reception this year due to the added expenses that are involved. We hope to see you all there on September 20, 2008 at 7:30 pm.
